Last time that rumors went around about the Motorola Ruby (or RAZR3), the supposedly new RAZR series model, featuring a 5 megapixel photocamera, stereo bluetooth, wi-fi, integrated GPS and 3G connectivity, they wold claim that the model had been cancelled.
After a few months, however, new images have been spotted about this device, now called VE1. It seems that Motorola would have the intention to launch the new model, perhaps by updating the OS and User Interface (Symbian UIQ) to the latest available release.
Despite the pictures, we’ll be tuned on the matter in the next few months to dismiss it as a rumor or announce the official launch.

Motorola’s fans were surely disappointed by the lack of new models presented at the Mobile World Congress, but now there are some images of a new touchscreen smartphone model that is supposed to be launched soon. It’s supposed to feature a 5.0 megapixel camera with kodak lenses and Xenon flashes. It also seems to have a TV-out output.
Several rumors claim that this could be the first Motorola phone to feature Android, Google’s new OS. We’ll be tuned on more information on the matter.

Motorola hasn’t brought new models to this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcellona, but one of the models that are catching people’s attention on their stands is their extra-luxury version of the Motorola Aura, called Motorola Diamond Aura (AUra DiamoniqE).
It’s a new version of the (already) expensive Motorola Aura, made by the designer Alexander Amosu, that differently from the standard model, it features 99 diamonds on display frame, for a total of 1 carat. The rest of the technical specifications are the same as the standard Aura.
If the already fancy Motorola Aura is sold for around $2000, the new Diamond Aura will only feature 50 units and will be available at the “luxury stores” from March on, for the price of… $7121.

The crisis that has been hitting Motorola in the past few months has been confirmed this week by the absence of significant new features at the Mobile World Congress in Barcellona.
After the many anticipations from the last months, many were hoping to see the new cellphone lines that Motorola would use to “relaunch” itself on the market this Spring. However, although the American company is present at the Mobile World Congress, it limited to show known models, and some new infrastructure features that are aimed at phone companies.
We can only hope that Motorola will announce a new line of cellphones in the next few weeks, otherwise with the now “old” RAZR models and a few other “economical” models, it seems hard to compete with the latest proposals from the competitors.

Motorola has brought the new Long Term Evolution (LTE) speeds to the streets of Barcellona. The LTE network, that will be available during the Mobile World Congress 2009, will be used in demonstrations inside environments such as the subway.
LTE is a new 4G technology that allows data transfering at a superior speed than the current HSDPA: 100 Mbps against 10Mbps. Motorola will be doing demonstrations mainly on the Online streaming of High Definition video (HD).

They will be launched officially on the next Mobile World Congress in Barcellona, on February 16th. We’re talking about three new Motorola models: The QA4, VE66LX and QA1.
The QA3 is a slidephone with a 2.8″ touchscreen display with a 240×400 pixel resolution. It also features the accelerometer and the USA network management.
The VE66LX is somewhat a luxury edition of the VE66. It features a golden case and a 5 megapixel photocamera with flash and autofocus.
The QA1 is a QWERTY-keyboard slidephone, and it’ll most likely be available only in the USA with an exclusive on AT&T.
Here are the new images. Enjoy!

Motorola has started the tests to create a Lte (Long Term Evolution) network, one of the fourth generation mobile connectivity technologies, in the UK.
Using a prototype device and taking advantage of the 2,6Ghz bandwidth, the American company has the intention of showing the faster speeds and reliability of the Lte when compared to the current 3G services. The choice to start the testing in the UK was partially due to the low interest that the WiMax mobile has in the territory, while the 3G networks are very well acclaimed.
Even though the Lte isn’t the only choice as a successor for the technologies current available (Vodafone, for example, is experimenting with a HSDPA+ technology), Motorola claims that, in theory, this technology can reach speeds up to hundreds of GB/s.

Once upon a time, the American company used to be the queen of the Mobile phone world, launching the first commercial cellphone in history. Now Motorola’s risking the closure of their telephony section, as it’s been unable to overcome the economical slump in which it has been for a few months.
During the last trimester, Motorola has only sold 19,2 million units, stumbling down to the 5th position in the worldwide list of cellphone manufacturers. The turnover has gone down by 26&, bringing the loss to up to 3.6 billion dollars. Unable to repeat the success of their Razr series, Motorola has looked for other solutions, like handing the cellphone department to a spin-off company.
The turning point should be now on Android, Google’s Operational System. Will Motorola be able to save itself? We surely hope so!
