Motorola is preparing their own Android-based line of cellphones and smartphones that will be ready for the Christmas season. It’s a new thing for the American company, that used to prefer the Windows Mobile based models.

The announcement has been made by the Wall Street Journal and confirms many rumors that started from the beginning of this year, that claimed that Google’s OS was the only way out for the company, which has faced many problems for a while. There are no informations on which models will be launched, but they should be presented from September on, to be launched from October or November.

Due to the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission that landed on the moon, Motorola has launched the Aura Celestial Edition, a special edition of the most expensive Motorola cellphone, with images and videos about the mission and a laser-engraved inscription that says: “motorola AURA Celestial Edition, Honouring the Apollo 11 Mission, 20th July 1969″.

The reason for all the attention to this event can be found on the companyh’s History, thanks to which on July 20th, 1969, the first words and video signals from the Moon arrived on earth thanks to a Motorola radio transponder.

The first unit of this special edition will be given to Neil Armstrong, the others can be bought for a very high price, which is justified by the 62k Sapphire lenses, 700 clock components that make the display and the exclusivity of this version. If you want one, you have to be ready to spend €2200.
